Runners of all abilities – from absolute beginners to seasoned professional – are being encouraged to set their sights on the 2010 Achill Island 10k run. The race takes place on Saturday 1 May 2010 – so there’s plenty of time to get out those running shoes and start training.

2010 is the inaugural event of the Achill 10k and the course will see runners following the roads around Keel, the Deserted Village and Dookinelly before finishing with an exciting run along the sands of Keel Strand. Expect deserted roads, fantastic scenery and a run to the finish line along one of the best beaches in Ireland.

All runners in the event will be chip timed and every finisher will receive a finishers medal for their endavours. The first 50 entrants will receive a free Buff (RRP €15.00). Water stations will be located at several points en route and at the finish line.

More information on this exciting race is available on the event website – www.26extreme.com and online registration for the event is now open through Run Ireland – www.runireland.com – runners are advised to enter early as participant numbers are limited. The closing date for entries is Saturday 24 April 2010.
