The next generation model of the Jeep Wrangler has been hitting the headlines for years now. The wait for the same seems to be ending now as a test mule of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler was spotted testing in the Southwest hot weather.

The redesigned version of this popular off-roader looks to be taking shape and the prototypes have already started its test ride. The Wrangler fans will be happy to hear the news that the 2018 prototype has already started its testing and will arrive in 2018.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Test Mule Spotted

The final sheet metal of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is still not ready, but the spotted mule was wearing the current Jeep Wrangler’s shell. The two-door configuration and a different exterior to the present Wrangler is what revealed that the Wrangler on test was a new mule.

There are modifications spotted on the windshield and the changes run down to the side skirts. There is every chance for the new Jeep Wrangler to come out with an extended hood and wheelbase. This will ensure that the vehicle is easier to handle and also offers great room inside.

Other than the front end changes, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler looks more or less similar to the current version. The body on frame design and steel construction, solid axles will all be part of the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler as well. There is every chance for some aluminum to be used on the vehicle to offer better fuel economy than the previous model.

The Wrangler is currently running on a 3.6 liter V-6 engine and the 2018 Jeep Wrangler would also be using the same engine in all likelihood. The V-6 engine will be fitted with a six speed manual transmission system. There is every chance for an eight speed automatic transmission system to be offered on the new Jeep Wrangler.

The Jeep Wrangler will be coming with a diesel version for the first time in the United States with the 2018 model. There is also a possibility of the hybrid version of the Jeep Wrangler to show up sometime later.

The production of the new Jeep Wrangler will be commencing at the FCA’s Toledo plant in 2017. This means that the Jeep Wrangler next generation model will be arriving in 2018. The new Jeep Wrangler will be one to look out for all off-roader fans. A four door Wrangler Unlimited will also be making its appearance sometime soon.
