The 2nd generation Porsche 911 will be unveiled to the public during the forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany. The company has revealed that all the second generation 911 will be coming out with a pair of turbochargers only. This will help in boosting the power of the Porsche 911 vehicles and also help in increasing the torque. The fuel consumption as well as the emissions will be lowered to a cretin extent.
What this means is that the next generation Porsche 911 will be shrinking the 6.0 liter engine to a 3.0 liter capacity engine. The engine output will be enhanced through the forced induction. The Porsche 911 Carrera will offer a power of 365 bhp and torque of 332 pound- feet and the Porsche 911 Carrera S will be coming out with a power of 414 bhp and 369 lb-ft. Both the cars will now get 20 HP more than the previous generation and they will be sharing the same capacity engine.
The downsizing of the pumps has paid dividends as the Porsche 911 Carrera base version with PDK auto offers a mileage of 38.2 miles per gallon (combined) and the Carrera S offers a combined mileage of 36.7 mpg. Both the cars will be out for sale in December 2015.
Even though the engine has been downsized, the 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera will speed up from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds. The Porsche 911 Carrera s version with speed from 0 to 60 mph is just 3.9 seconds. The base version of 911 will touch a maximum speed of 183 mph and the Porsche 911 Carrera S version will clock 191 mph speed.
The 2016 Porsche 911 will offer the driver the option to choose any of the drive models like Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and individual depending on his or her needs. The only 911 that will not be getting the forced induction or changes in its engine is the 911 GT3 and the 911 GT3RS.
There is nothing to jaw about as far as turbos are concerned. The Carrera S model will be coming out with a revamped suspension that features the ZF rear axle steering. With optional electro-hydraulic lift system, the Carrera S will be able to sail smoothly over the bumps without worrying about the bumper getting a scraping.
The 2nd generation Porsche 911 Carrera will be coming out for sale in March 2016 and would carry a price tag of $90,000.
